A Magical "Over The Moon" Baby Shower

A Magical "Over The Moon" Baby Shower

It seems like everyone is having babies right now. With so many things being canceled this past year, it seems like many couples had almost a little too much downtime and are now part of a new term called “The Quarantine Baby”: A baby that was conceived during the 2020 quarantine. Due to very low activity in the house, sociologists have projected a large baby boom between October 2020 and April 2021. This is from a card that we carry that many of our customers have sent to couples announcing their pregnancy or coming home from the hospital.

As we get closer to opening up again, seeing each other in small gatherings, and celebrating together again, a couple of friends and I thought we would make one woman's baby shower extra special.

Amanda Diehl, the co-founder of Sky Oro, a beautiful women’s co-working space in Bozeman, Montana, has done so much to keep her community of women together during the pandemic. She just opened her space months before the mayhem happened and she has worked tirelessly to be there for her members. On top of this, she decided to have a baby!

Well, a few friends and I decided that we would do something special for her and for the women who attended her shower. It wasn’t just an opportunity to shower her with love and gifts, but a chance to re-connect with each other, some of which haven’t seen each other outside of a Zoom call for over a year!

Breezy Cutler, also known as The Magical Babe, was the hostess with the mostess created a mimosa and MOM-osa bar and created hand-poured candles for gifts.

We offered to do florals for the event and wanted to make it a special theme, Over the Moon, a celestial-inspired baby shower to celebrate the new baby. Jessica Lewis from Bowl and Arrows made the most delicious desserts. This was a classy event with tasteful games, great food, beautiful décor, great conversation, and in such a beautiful space. If you’re looking for the perfect place for your baby shower or bridal shower, the Sky Oro space is perfect!

We at The Flower Bar created a crescent moon with baby’s breath, white roses, white stock, Israeli Ruscus, and Eucalyptus. We wanted to create something that would compliment the food table and be unique to the party. Throughout the room, we filled apothecary jars with stock and baby’s breath to bring the magical energy we were creating throughout the rest of the room.

You can’t have a celestial, magical celebration without The Magical Babe of course. Breezy created a fun bingo game that encouraged everyone to get to know each other again, after being apart and brought beautiful hand-poured candles, that even had a little magic dust in them!

Jessica from Bowl and Arrows started the faire with the most beautifully decorated macaroons of all the phases of the moons. They were coconut with a

lime and pineapple curd filling. TO DIE FOR! We were treated with vanilla cupcakes with lemon curd and a blueberry lavender compote. Trust me, these were the most heavenly desserts ever. The beautifully decorated cake was the same but no one wanted to cut it open, so the mother-to-be got to enjoy it at home with her family. We all sat around the table, chatted like no time had ever left. It was a room full of inspirational women, all with their own stories and knowledge to pass on to the mama to be and how different it is when it’s your second baby.

This was the perfect opportunity for creative friends to get together and make someone feel special. That’s what baby showers are about. We need to celebrate not only the everyday moments but the landmark moments as well. It doesn’t matter that this was her second baby. This is a new soul that is entering our world, our community and will touch and shape the lives of others around. We must celebrate together!

It's time to celebrate all of life's occasions. If you're looking to throw a unique baby or bridal shower, we would love to help you plan and design it so that you can have a special memory with the ones you love. Email us at hello@theflower.bar to schedule a chat to plan your event!
